Advanced Dermatologic Surgery, is one of only 30 dermatology centers in the world, and the only clinic in the Midwestern United States, with a Triple Board-Certified and Triple Fellowship-Trained Mohs surgeon. Our surgeon's expertise in general dermatology, dermatopathology, Mohs surgery, and reconstructive plastic surgery provides us with the unique ability to clinically examine, microscopically diagnose, surgically excise, and aesthetically reconstruct your skin cancer in a manner that few other centers are capable of providing.
The elite surgical team at Advanced Dermatologic Surgery, includes nurses, medical assistants, lab technicians, and front office surgical staff, all united by a common mission: to support those battling skin cancer. Every day, our goal is to provide each patient with exceptional care, marked by kindness, joy, and unmatched surgical expertise.
Our focus on skin cancer allows us to successfully remove very serious skin cancers in sensitive and visible areas while providing our patients with the best possible cosmetic outcomes. Utilizing the Mohs technique, Dr. Hocker is able to treat the most common forms of skin cancer including Basal Cell Carcinoma and Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Additionally, he is a nationally recognized expert on Mohs surgery for melanoma and other rare tumors, including Merkel Cell Carcinoma, Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans (DFSP), and extramammary Paget's Disease.
Following the Mohs removal of the skin, patients are admitted to our AAAHC-accredited and Medicare-certified Ambulatory Surgery Center for the reconstruction of the surgical wound. Located next door, but within the same building, the surgery center allows Dr. Hocker to more safely reconstruct each wound due to the increased sterility of the operating environment compared to most medical office spaces. The improved operating conditions in the Ambulatory Surgery Center minimize the risk of post-operative infection, which is evidenced by our lower-than-expected infection rates compared to the national average (less than 0.5% infection rate at our facility vs. 3 - 6% infection rate nationwide for Mohs surgeons). This seamless process ensures that tumor removal, pathological verification of complete removal, and aesthetic reconstruction are all performed on the same day in most cases, providing convenience and peace of mind for our patients.
At Advanced Dermatologic Surgery, we are committed to offering exceptional care and outstanding results, helping patients achieve both health and aesthetic goals.
